Trek Makalu
How to trek on the Great Himalaya Trail in the Makalu section? Access is not easy as it is one of the remotest sections.
The traditional trek in this area is the Makalu Base Camp trek in which you experience the incredible bio-diversity of the Makalu_Barun National Park along with high mountain scenery under the looming bulk of Makalu.
This can be coupled with the demanding Three Cols trek, taking you up to nearly 6,200 m, crossing over into the Everest region.
To get the most on the trail, you’ll cross over from the Kanchenjunga national park in a long, but fabulous ‘exploratory’ wilderness trek.
Arun Valley & Makalu Base Camp trek The Makalu Barun National Park offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the Himalayas. The rewards of trekking here are great, but hard won – it’s remote, wilderness country and for the experienced trekker. The Makalu Base Camp Trek is an exception 19 day trek.
Makalu to Everest trek – The ‘Three Cols’ GHT section There is no doubt Makalu to Everest is the toughest and most challenging trek in Nepal due to the amount of days spent over 4,500m as well as having two mountaineering days required to cross the high passes.
However it is well worth the effort as Makalu to Everest is one of the most scenic treks in Nepal with superb views all the way up the Barun Valley (known as Yosemite of Nepal).
