Hi Mauro,
The crampon suggestion was for ice rather than snow. If it is icy, then you can be in trouble on even gentle slopes. I meant something like this: http://www.ultimateoutdoors.co.uk/pics/1261494110
This organisation is based in Samagaon, just below the pass. They also have trekking connections and could help answer your questions. Try emailing the address given at the top of the page: http://samadevelopment.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the information. Is it so steep the way down that is necessary to have crampons? Normally if not steep and with only snow I don't use crampons. I would like to cross the pass before 18-20 december . Please do you organize trek group in that period?

Just asked my flatmate. He crossed on Christmas day. It was pretty icy he said. He had no crampons but the group and porters managed to find a way down. So perhaps some lightweight instep crampons would be good to take?

With a little luck, yes! Really that is the only answer you can get. I'll ask my flatmate tomorrow what he did, but pretty sure he was there until late December last year. Still, if there is a storm or snow, then you can always head back and go to Tsum valley. There is a lot to do here more that just go round in a circle!

Also see http://www.samadevelopment.blogspot.com / sama.1698 at gmail.com > from Samagaon , the last village below the pass, and can tell you about it and winter.

Have fun on the trek, It should be amazing.

Hi,
This web site is terrific!
I got a chance to develop a chapter in Great Himalayan Trail-Tsum Valley but here I didn't see any contents included in this site. This is one of the most important part of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal.
In the past, it has been bypassed by mainstream development due to its hidden geography, but I hope this project will include this beautiful valley many cultural sites.

In 2002 started at Arughat Bazar and trecked North to Mugumb and back as a party of six with 30 sherpas. Never to be forgotten scenery and challenging paths and bridges. Delightful people and at the monestry at Mugumb we were said to be the first Europeans they had seen for more than 20 years. Promissed to learn to suture and always carry more wet-wipes next time!
