The Snow Leopard Trek is inspired by Peter Mathiessen’s book, The Snow Leopard, who took a journey into the region in 1973 when Dolpo was considered one of the most remote and inaccessible places on earth. Now Dolpo is easier to get to, but the trek that recaptures the adventurers’ route is strenuous, crossing four 5,000m passes and maintaining camp at around 3,000m the whole time.
