Tsum Valley is Nepal’s hidden valley of happiness. A festival is being held in Tsum mid-September 2011 and if you are trekking then, it might be well worth a visit.

The Manaslu festival is worth visiting for trekker trekking the Manaslu circuit trek this May. The programme is very cultural and includes dancing, singing, archery, horse racing – and no doubt a little eating and rakshi drinking too!

Close to Simikot, located in culturally rich and stunning Humla district of West Nepal, lies Shelmogang, or Crystal mountain as it is also known, because of its stunning crystalline appearance. Shelmogang can be reached through the Nyinba valley, a days walk from Simikot. Nyinba is a culturally rich valley populated with Bhotiya communities who still practice a blend of pre-Buddhist Shamanism and Tibetan Buddhism. Rinchenling Gompa in Halji and its festivals Rinchenling Gompa in Halji was founded in the 11th century and is the most important Gompa in Limi. The monastery originally belonged to the Sakyapa sect and later to the Dri-gung Ka-gyu-pa sect. For centuries, it has been the cultural and religious centre of not only the three villages in the Limi valley but also for all the Bhotia community of upper Humla and western Tibet.
