Introduction
A third option is to trek through the Limi Valley after visiting Mount Kailash. If you don’t want to be in a jeep for many long, dusty days, this is a beautiful alternative. After having done the kora of Mount Kailash, you return to Hilsa, from which you trek through the authentic Tibetan villages of the Limi Valley. Few tourists have found the way to Limi. The trek goes through desolate high altitude landscapes, crossing the Nyalu La at 4940 meters. This is a truly adventurous trek.

Hi. We are two exprienced and self sufficient trekkers, but on a lower budget. Is it possible to hire independant guide rather than booking an ‘organised’ trek through the rather more expensive trekking companies? We have done this in other ares in Nepal. If yes, can we do this in Simikot?
Great website!

Thanks!
To trek in Humla you need a trekking permit, as Humla is a restricted area. The trekking permit can only be obtained through a registered trekking agency, and most agencies will only arrange a permit if you also go trekking with them.
I recommend you to contact one of trekking agents on the link below, who are all from Humla. The first 4 trekking agencies have an office in Kathmandu as well, and so can organize the trekking permit: http://www.thegreathimalayatrail.org/3027/local-agents-in-humla/
Please let us know about your experience and if you need more information!
Best regards,
Linda
